Mihail A. Popov, better known to most as I Gemin has been releasing his soul drenched twist on downtempo, house and disco over the past decade. Here we see him deliver his latest collection of cuts via SlothBoogie Records across four originals primed for summer terraces. Opening the release is ‘Green Light’, an airy slow burner fuelled by sweeping chords, jazzy drums, smooth strings, twinkling keys and sax licks.
‘Interlude 74’ follows and lays down a bumpy downtempo beat
alongside silky Rhodes, reverberated guitar licks and funk-infused bass. ‘Into The Sun’ is up next, bringing things back to a more dance floor 4/4 feel with organic drums, plucked strings and intricately intertwined string and bass melodies. ‘Yaju’ then rounds out the release on lo-fi hip hop tip, fusing together warm guitar chords with fluttering strings, sporadic sax lines and crisp beats.
